Public Limited Companies — Banking, Financial Services & Insurance

Speed is the product. Everyone serving you is slow.

In every other sector a slow marketing partner costs you momentum. Here it costs you the day a rumour breaks, and the day a rumour breaks is the only day that matters.

One Tuesday

A story runs at nine. Then what.

09:04

A business channel runs an unsourced line about your asset quality. The stock moves before the segment ends.

09:20

Three journalists call. Nobody has decided who speaks or what the position is.

10:30

Legal, IR, comms and the agency are on separate threads. The agency's lead is in another client's review.

13:00

A draft statement exists. It has been through four people and now says nothing.

16:45

The clarification goes out. The story has already been aggregated by eleven outlets and the version in the market is the one from 09:04.

Next day

Your relationship managers are fielding customer calls about something that was never true.

None of the individual delays were unreasonable. Together they cost you the day.

The version that works

Written before you needed it.

Positions drafted and pre-cleared for the eight rumours most likely to run about a company like yours. A named spokesperson per category. A distribution path that reaches your own agents and RMs before it reaches the press, because they are the ones customers call. Twenty-four hours is the outer limit here in any case — the point is to use two of them, not twenty-three.

The rest of the year

Your distribution speaks in your name.

Agents, bancassurance partners and DSAs are producing their own material right now — WhatsApp forwards, edited screenshots, claims you never made. You carry the regulatory exposure for all of it. Supplying them properly is cheaper than the alternative and nobody in this sector does it at any real pace.

Product communication here is pre-governed in ways that are genuinely restrictive. That constraint is not the reason your campaigns are slow, though. It is the reason they need to be planned by people who already know what will and will not clear.
